We have a well equipped operating theatre in our Hospital, where we perform different types of surgery such as desexings, as well as more complex surgery such as cruciate ligament repair. We also carry a wide range of pet food, flea prevention medication, veterinary prescription diets, and pet accessories.

We treat pets of all ages, from puppies and kittens to senior citizens. Our range of services includes annual check-ups, vaccinations, microchipping, emergency care, and routine surgery such as desexing and dental procedures.

Complete medical care for your pets including:

If you're worried about recent changes in your pet, make an appointment with one of our vets. A sudden change in behavior is often a sign that your pet is unwell.

Look out for:

Routine check-ups

A little preventative healthcare can help reduce the risk of your pet falling ill, which is where annual check-ups come in. RSPCA NSW recommends that dogs and cats should have an annual health check-up. As they put it, that's the equivalent of a human visiting their doctor every five years! The vet will assess your pet's weight and condition, listen to their heart, take their temperature, check teeth, skin, eyes and ears, and assess any sore spots or lumps and bumps that might be early signs of disease.

Diagnostic services

We have a range of diagnostic equipment to assist in treating your pet, including digital X-ray, an ultrasound machine and an Idexx pathology machine for faster and more accurate diagnosis. Our Idexx machine gives results within a few minutes, and we can also send samples away to a veterinary laboratory. Test results that are sent away, like histology specimens, are usually back within 24 to 48 hours. Our new digital x-ray machine and processor will have the results of your pet's x-rays instantly.

Specialist referrals:

If you need to see a Specialist, we can refer you to one, and we also have visiting Specialists at our Hospital for your convenience

Dental Services:

Dental care

Regular dental check-ups, will keep your pet's teeth clean and healthy. We also carry a range of dental diets designed to reduce tartar formation, and keep your pet's teeth and gums clean and healthy. Four out of five dogs and cats over the age of three years have some sort of dental disease. Left untreated, this decay can become painful and debilitating, often leading to other medical problems in your pet. A general anaesthetic is necessary to carry out a thorough examination, a complete dental clean and to perform extractions or other major dental work.

In-House Laboratory Testing:

A well equipped in house laboratory, for routine blood tests, gives us faster test results and ensures your pet will be diagnosed as quickly as possible.

Pet Food

We carry a full line of Prescription diets, such as Hills Science diet, as well as the Royal Canin range, and a range of healthy treats to reward your pet.

Grooming is an important part of pet care, helping your pet feel and look its best. If you're short on time (and the skill level needed for clipping the nails of a wriggling pet!) our groomers can help. Our range of grooming services include ear cleaning, nail clipping, clipping, brushing and baths. Our head groomer, Margaret has had more than 20 years of experience grooming dogs for the show ring, and she is an expert in grooming dogs and cats.

In compliance with recent legislation, it is now compulsory to have your pet microchipped. It only takes a few minutes to implant the microchip, which is the size of a grain of rice.

Planning to travel

Xray facilities

If you are planning to take your pet interstate or overseas, all the different entry requirements can be very confusing. Give us a call to book an appointment with our Vets to complete the necessary documentation and pre-export health checks, including rabies vaccinations, and blood tests. For more information on travelling overseas with your pet, you can also visit the AQIS website.

Nutrition advice

If your dog or cat is underweight or overweight (by far the most common!) we can advise on weight control, including diet and exercise. We carry a range of prescription diets, such as Hill's Science Diet and Royal Canin, plus a range of healthy treats. If you require a food that we don't stock, we can order it in for you, and delivery is generally within 1-2 business days.

Xray facilities

We have a digital x-ray machine and processor, which gives clearer images, and the results are available instantly, allowing quicker diagnosis. And if needed, we can send the images to Radiology Specialists for more complex cases.

Surgical Procedures

We perform a range of routine as well as complex surgical procedures, including:

This is the most common procedure, and is a day surgery. We perform desexings on weekdays, and you need to make an appointment for this procedure, as there is important pre-surgery information that we need to discuss with you. Cats can breed from four months of age so an early conversation with your vet about desexing is important. Desexing can be performed as early as eight weeks but generally should be done at around six months of age.

If your pet is having trouble giving birth, this is an emergency, and you should contact us as soon as possible. If you are unable to get in touch with our Vet, please call a 24hour emergency Vet Hospital immediately.

Lump removal and other types of soft tissue surgery

Finding a lump on your pet can be quite stressful. Please give us a call, and our nurses can schedule an appointment for a check-up.

Dental procedures

Orthopedic surgery like Cruciate ligament repair and patella (kneecap) repair.

We hear a lot about cruciate ligament injuries in our elite sportspeople. Think of your dog as being in the same league, because active dogs are also liable to damage their cruciate ligament. If you see your dog hobbling on three legs, with a hind leg raised, they may be suffering in this way. While the pain can be controlled with medication, most often, the only permanent solution is surgery to repair the damage and stabilise the knee. Like elite sportspeople, your dog will also need to take an extended break from running and jumping. But with proper after-care, and gentle rehabilitation, they should be back to full health within three to six months. Talk to Dr Ben, who has many years of experience in cruciate as well as patella repair surgery.

Fleas,ticks and worms

It's important to use a good flea control treatment and to worm your pet regularly, for their comfort and t keep your own home free of pests. There are several new flea and worming products on the market. If you need help picking the right one for your pet, please give us a call, and our friendly team will help you pick the right flea, tick and worming control for your pet.

Heartworm prevention

Heartworm can be deadly. It's most common in dogs but can also infect cats. It is spread by mosquitos. Luckily, prevention is available, either by an annual injection, spot-on control, or monthly tablets.

Vaccinations play an important role in protecting your pet's health against contagious and sometimes fatal diseases. Like any medical procedure there may be some risks involved with vaccinations. We can discuss any concerns you have about vaccinating your pet, and we can also pick a vaccination schedule that suits your pet. If you are planning to take your pet overseas, some countries require that your pet has a rabies booster prior to allowing your pet to enter the country. We keep rabies vaccinations in stock, and we can also do pre-export health checks. For more information about exporting your pet, please visit the AQISwebsite.

Puppies and kittens

That tiny bundle of fluff can bring lots of joy, but it's important to understand what your pup or kitten needs to grow into a healthy adult. Our staff can advise on vaccinations, worming and flea treatments, desexing, nutritional needs and microchipping. We also run a puppy preschool to help your new addition grow up into a well-socialised dog.

Senior pets

Generally, a senior pet is one over the age of eight in cats or over the age of seven in dogs, but larger breeds of dogs tend to age more quickly than smaller breeds. As our pets get older, they begin to slow down, perhaps put on a few extra kilos, and sometimes start to stiffen up and have a few extra aches and pains. A healthy eating plan is important to stop your older pet gaining weight and to reduce the risk of kidney and heart disease. Regular dental care for older animals is also important.

Pocket Pets

Rabbits, ferrets and guinea pigs need regular health checks too. We can help with desexing, vaccinations and nutritional advice.
